Fundación Bancaja, Valencia, Spain

In the 1960s, London began an economic and social transformation that led it towards becoming one of the undisputed capitals of Contemporary Art. London’s art scene, with its countless galleries, as well as world-class museums and institutions, such as the Tate, the Royal Academy of Arts and the Serpentine Gallery, and also prestigious art colleges, gave life to an art revolution that included movements like the New British Sculpture and Young British Artists (YBA).

For the first time in Spain, London Calling brings together a review of contemporary artists from various generations, whose careers were formed and forged in London and who, in turn, have contributed to positioning the city at the forefront of the art world. Focusing mainly on recent artistic productions, the works were selected by the artists and represent their current projects, culminating in what is probably the vanguard of global creative creations.

Participating artists: David Hockney, Michael Craig-Martin, Phyllida Barlow, Sean Scully, Richard Deacon, Tony Cragg, Antony Gormley, Anish Kapoor, Cornelia Parker, Julian Opie, Grayson Perry, Yinka Shonibare, Jake y Dinos Chapman, Rachel Whiteread, Damien Hirst, Mat Collishaw, Rachel Howard, Jason Martin, Annie Morris and Idris Khan.

“Sin duda, la Fundación Bancaja ha montado una de las exposiciones de la temporada, ya que, al hablar de la escena artística londinense, ninguna otra ciudad puede presentar una exposición que incluya la cantidad y calidad de los artistas presentes en la presente exposición”
